Iggy Pop - 'New Values' Session - Limited Edition Framed Print

A second frame from Trevor Rogers' 1979 session with Iggy Pop for the Arista album *New Values*, shot in the ballet school above the studio on Marylebone High Street with art directors Paul Henry and Jean-Luc Epstein.

This study captures James Newell Osterberg suspended in heavy rope from the ceiling rig, mid-shape, watched over by the young dancers borrowed from the school below for the evening. Trevor recalled the dancers showing James a few of their own moves and shapes first, half-expecting him not to keep up - then watching, stunned, as he matched and outdid them. The same layered lighting built for the session runs through this frame: a strong blue-gelled backlight, warmed and softened by the Kodak Wratten filters on the camera, with vaseline smeared at the filter's edge for that hazy, dutched-angle glow. No photoshop - built entirely in camera, on trust between photographer and art director.
