999 - Studio Group Portrait, 1978

Shot by Trevor Rogers during the band's 1978 studio sessions for United Artists.  A cleaner, more formal counterpart to the perspex and piano sessions: the four members of 999 lined up against a plain white studio backdrop, dressed in the sharp, colour-blocked style of the period - cobalt, mustard, and pinstripe against pale trousers. Where the album sessions leaned into theatre and movement, this portrait holds still, each member's stance and expression doing the work instead.
